Cadel Evans will be back on the track this year after an absence of 9 long years. He is to appear in the Australian road cycling championships which is due to start on Sunday. The national team was ecstatic to hear that Evans has registered himself for the upcoming as it was somewhat unexpected. This would be a real boost for both Evans and the team.
However Evans has also said that since there was such a long gap in between there can be last minute changes but everyone is positive that he will be racing from this year. The preparations have already started for Evans and according to reports the man is in very good shape and he looks hungrier than ever. In an interview just after the decision was made Evans said that he is not only looking forward to the Australian championship but also for the Giro d Italia. The training and the practice sessions he has undergone so far for the season opening shows that he will be back with some great form.
The former Tour de France winner said that he will not be participating in the Tour de France this year because the distance will be too long for him and he has not reached that level of fitness yet. On a brighter note he is sternly focused on the Australian road cycling championships and Giro d Italia and also Adelaide’s Tour Down Under.
The manager of Evans is pretty hopeful with him and said that he has been training very hard and the preparations are in perfect shape. He is confident about Evans saying that the Tour de France winner will emerge as the champion this season. The opening of the season would decide what Evans will do rest of the season.
